Kenjutsu - Japanese swordsmanship

Sunday, April 9th 2006 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.



Workshop will include:
  • Basics of Japanese Swordsmanship.
          Basic cutting techniques, taught through exercises.
          Basic defense and counter techniques.
  • An examination of select kenjutsu kata from various schools of the Bujinkan Dojo.
  • Application of kata principles and technique to possible real life scenarios for today’s world.




  • Shidoshi Young has been training in Japanese Martial Arts since 1973. He holds a 7th degree black belt in the International Bujinkan Dojo and 2nd degree black belt in Nisei Goju Karate. He has also train in Judo, Kendo, and Aikido. Shidoshi Young holds classes at the Ren Dao Wellness Center Mondays and Saturdays and Private instruction in Elmsford NY.


    This seminar is open to all. Participants should bring a bokken (wooden training sword) to train with. No metal swords will be allowed.
