Qigong and Meditation Practice
Qi Gong is a gentle exercise practiced for thousands of years in Asia. Many different forms of Qi Gong exist. Some are similar in movement and technique, while others have specific and unique movements and intents.
Qi Gong exercises focuses on developing an awareness of one's internal and external energies. It can include breathing exercises, meditation, static and dynamic movements. With regular practice, one can reduce stress, improve circulation, increase energy, and improve one's overall health.
In this class we will primarily practice Emei Qi Gong forms and various traditional qi gong exercise. Mediation and breathing exercises will also be practiced.
Yoga
Yoga is a great physical exercise, involving stretching and holding various body postures (asana). It strengthens, and elongates the muscles and spine and improves posture and alignment of the vertebrae.
Yoga includes breathing and relaxation techniques, thus can help reduce blood pressure, increasing lung capacity, and reduce tension and stress. This slow and relaxing exercise can be practiced like a moving meditation, calming the mind and balancing the emotions, improving mental clarity, focus and concentration.
San Yama Bushi Ryu Jujutsu & Self Defense
Jujutsu is a Japanese word that can roughly be defined as self defense techniques. Though it primarily relates to empty hand techniques, it can also include defenses using weapons. Jujutsu techniques include throws, chokes, take downs, joint manipulations as well as kicking and punching techniques.
San Yama Bushi Ryu jujutsu is a modern self defense, jujutsu system created by Shinan Hector Negron. It is based on the Miyama Ryu system pioneered by Shinan Pereira in the early sixties and has been finely refined by Shinan Negron into the current San Yama Bushi curriculum.
Children and Teens Martial Arts - Karate
The RDWC offers Shotokan Karate classes for children ages 7 to 16. Karate helps increase strength, muscle coordination, confidence, team work and disciple.
Iaido and Japanese Swordmanship Practice
Iaido is the art of drawing, cutting (with) and re-sheathing a Japanese sword. At the RDWC, we practice Muso Shinden Ryu Iaido.
